Summer & School Break Programs

When school is out, the structure and safety it provides disappears — and for children experiencing instability, that gap can be destabilizing. Our summer and school break programs provide consistent, enriching care during closures, keeping children connected, regulated, and supported all year long.

Daily Rhythm

Consistency Through Every Break

Our summer and break programs maintain the same predictable daily rhythm children experience during the school year — arrivals, meals, enrichment, rest, and departures at consistent times — so the transition out of school doesn't mean a loss of structure.

Morning arrival and feelings check-in circle
Enrichment blocks: STEM, arts, literacy, and movement
Nutritious meals and snacks at consistent times
Outdoor play, water activities, and nature exploration
Quiet rest and afternoon wind-down routine
Sensory-Friendly Environment

Summer Fun Without Sensory Overload

Summer programming can be overwhelming for children with sensory sensitivities — loud environments, unpredictable schedules, and high stimulation. Our spaces and activities are designed to be engaging without being overwhelming.

Calm indoor spaces available as a retreat from outdoor stimulation
Sensory-friendly water and nature activities
Predictable activity blocks with visual schedules
Quiet corners and decompression zones throughout the day
Co-Regulation Practices

Keeping Kids Regulated All Summer Long

Summer breaks can trigger regression in children who rely on school structure for regulation. Our staff are trained to anticipate and respond to increased dysregulation during transitions — providing extra co-regulation support at the start of each break period.

We use visual schedules, transition warnings, and consistent check-in rituals to help children feel oriented and safe even when the calendar changes.

Staff Training

Trained for Year-Round Trauma-Informed Care

Our summer and break program staff complete the same trauma-informed training as our year-round team — with additional preparation for managing the unique challenges of extended break periods.

Summer Is Hard for Families in Crisis — We Help

Summer break is one of the most stressful periods for caregivers navigating housing instability, domestic violence, or economic hardship. The loss of school-day childcare creates immediate pressure — and that pressure flows directly to children.

Our summer programs give caregivers reliable, safe childcare during the hardest months — reducing crisis risk and giving families the breathing room to stabilize. When caregivers are less overwhelmed, children are calmer, more connected, and more resilient.
